Paid Search

An advertising technique that involves buying positions in search engine results through keyword bidding on a cost-per-click basis.

Full definition

Paid search refers to the purchase of advertising positions in search engine results pages (SERPs). Also known as SEA (Search Engine Advertising), it operates primarily through Google Ads: advertisers bid on keywords and pay a defined amount for each click on their ad (CPC model). Ads appear at the top or bottom of results, labeled with a small "Ad" indicator.

Ad position is not determined solely by bid amount: Google calculates a Quality Score based on ad relevance, landing page quality, and expected click-through rate (CTR). A high Quality Score allows you to secure better positions at lower cost. Ad extensions (star ratings, reviews, sitelinks) enrich the display and improve actual CTR.

For e-commerce merchants, paid search provides immediate visibility on high-purchase-intent queries. It is particularly effective for product launches, seasonal promotions, or entering new markets. Campaign performance is fully measurable: ROAS (return on ad spend), conversion rate, and cost per acquisition are all trackable in real time.

Concrete example

An organic cosmetics store launches a Google Ads campaign targeting the keyword "natural moisturizing cream." It bids $1.20 per click. Thanks to 600 reviews and a 4.9/5 rating displayed in Google Seller Ratings, its ad achieves a CTR 35% higher than competitors, effectively reducing the cost per acquisition.

In this case, the stars under the ad are not a cosmetic detail: they act as a trust signal in a paid-click context. Users hesitate less before clicking an ad displaying 4.9/5, and they convert better once on the product page because a degree of trust has already been established before the click.

With Review Collect

Review Collect directly feeds your Google Seller Ratings. When your customers leave reviews on Google or Verified Reviews via RC requests, those reviews contribute to your public rating. Once you reach 100 reviews in a 12-month period on certified platforms, Google automatically displays your stars beneath your Google Ads, with no additional setup required.

A 4.9/5 rating with 500+ reviews improves your Quality Score and paid CTR. Our clients see an average increase in ad conversion rates, alongside a +73% higher average order value post-click. RC reviews become an accelerator for your advertising investment, not just a reputation tool.
